“France sees Azerbaijan as a new competitor in the South Caucasus” – Dr. Ahmad Shahidov told ARB24 channel

French politicians under the influence of the armenian lobby have recently increased the number of statements and calls targeting Azerbaijan. A group of French social and political figures, including the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo, made an appeal against the decision to hold the UN Climate Summit (COP29) in Azerbaijan in 2024. This once again demonstrates the racist, Islamophobic and Azerbaijan-phobic nature of French society.

Commenting on the topic to ARB24 channel, political analyst Dr. Ahmad Shahidov said that the pro-Armenian position is not the only reason behind France’s strong bias against Azerbaijan in recent years: “France has supported armenians throughout history and tried to legalize the occupation of Azerbaijani lands. However, after Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity and state sovereignty, especially at a time when the signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan is on the agenda, France’s prejudice against Azerbaijan has not yet ended, on the contrary, it has increased. France already sees Azerbaijan as its new rival in the South Caucasus and is trying with all its might to suppress Baku on international platforms.”
