“France-Azerbaijani relations are getting tense” – Dr. Ahmad Shahidov talks to Ulusal Kanal Television

On June 30, France’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mrs. Ann Bouillon was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan. A protest was delivered to the French ambassador regarding French President Emmanuel Macron’s untruthful and unilateral defense of Armenia, which he voiced against Azerbaijan at a meeting with the Armenian community in Marseille, and France asked for an explanation on the matter.

On the other hand, on June 28, employees of Azerbaijan State Television were subjected to pressure while filming in France. The technical equipment of Azerbaijani journalists was broken, and they were physically injured.

On June 22, at the Summer Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, a resolution against Azerbaijan was adopted with the support of France and a call was made to the Azerbaijani government regarding “Ensuring free and safe access through the Lachin Corridor”.

All these issues have caused new tension in France-Azerbaijani relations. Commenting on this tension to Ulusal Kanal Television, political analyst Dr. Ahmad Shahidov said that France’s biased and one-sided policy has a negative impact on the relations between the two countries.
