“Today, Muslim and Christian refugees believe in Turkiye and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan” – Ahmad Shahidov spoke at the OSCE

On October 6, the OSCE Human Dimension Meeting continued its work in Warsaw, the capital of Poland.

Today’s discussions continued on the topic “Humanitarian issues, including in the context of armed conflict; Refugees and displaced persons; Persons at risk of displacement”. The head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, Dr. Ahmad Shahidov, who closely participated in the discussions, emphasized that more than 5 million Muslim refugees have taken refuge in the Republic of Turkiye and that they have fully integrated into the Turkish society.

Stating that cases of extreme discrimination against Muslim refugees continue in Europe, Ahmad Shahidov called Turkiye an exemplary country and drew attention to the fact that, along with Muslims, forced migrants of Christian origin also live in Turkiye.

The human rights activist said that people from both Ukraine and Russia fled to Turkiye during the Ukraine-Russia war. Ahmad Shahidov said that today Muslim and Christian refugees around the world believe in Turkiye and its leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, not Joe Biden or Emmanuel Macron.
