“The policy of discrimination against Turks continues in the USA and Europe” – Ahmet Shahidov spoke at the OSCE

On October 3, the OSCE Human Dimension Meeting continued in Warsaw, the capital of Poland.

Today’s discussions were held on “Ethnic minorities, national identity issues, rights of refugees and citizenship”. Dr. Ahmet Shahidov, the head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, who closely participated in the discussions, said that cases of discrimination against citizens of Turkish origin continue in the US and European countries, and the fundamental freedoms of Turks are restricted.

Ahmet Shahidov said that the freedom of free assembly of Turkish citizens in the USA and European countries is severely restricted. He recalled the violence of the local American police against citizens of Turkish origin during the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the USA, and strongly condemned the brutal destruction of the Turkish rally in the Netherlands.

Noting that more than 5 million Iraqi and Syrian refugees live in Turkiye, Ahmet Shahidov said that the European Union has not yet fulfilled its promise to Ankara and that Muslim refugees are not loved in Europe.
