Turkish and Azerbaijani armed forces have launched large-scale joint military exercises in Azerbaijan. Turkish and Azerbaijani air and ground forces have participated in joint exercises.

The air force maneuver began today and will end on August 10. The maneuvers, which will include military aircraft of the two countries, will be carried out in Baku, Nakhchivan, Ganja, Kurdamir and Yevlakh.

Ground forces exercises will be held in Baku and Nakhchivan on August 1-5. During the exercise, various combat missions will be performed and conventional enemy targets will be fired using armored vehicles, artillery and minesweepers.

Turkish soldiers were welcomed with a special ceremony at the Umid bridge over the Araz River at the Sadarak border gate of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

The Turkish National Anthem and the Azerbaijani National Anthem were played at the ceremony and the flags were changed. After the ceremony, the soldiers were placed in military units in Nakhchivan.

The maneuvers, which will include Turkish and Azerbaijani fighter jets, will continue in Baku, Nakhchivan, Ganja, Kurdamir and Yevlakh and will end on August 10.

Commenting on the joint Turkish-Azerbaijani military exercises on Turkish Ulusal Channel Television, Ahmad Shahidov, head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, answered questions from Seda Anik, presenter of “Main News”, noting that the two countries’ joint military exercises were a clear message to Armenia.
