“The Armenian armed forces do not adhere to the humanitarian truce” – Ahmad Shahidov talked to TRT World

Despite the ceasefire agreement reached between the parties, the Armenian side continues to fire on civilians and civilian objects for the third day.

The Armenian armed forces do not adhere to the humanitarian truce and continue inflicting rocket and artillery fire at Azerbaijan’s cities and villages located away from the area of combat operations.

On the night of October 11, Ganja, the second-largest city in Azerbaijan and far beyond the frontline, came under rocket fire by the Armenian armed forces. The attack killed seven civilians and injured 34 others, including minors.

Speaking on TRT World, human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov, head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, said that the shelling of civilians and cities by the Armenian armed forces after the humanitarian ceasefire agreement is another clear example of barbarism and shows that the ceasefire calls of the Armenian leadership are nothing but hypocrisy.

Because the Armenian army violated the ceasefire, fired on the villages on the line of contact and killed civilians. The human rights defender said that Armenia must withdraw its soldiers from all occupied territories and stressed the need to restore the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan. And only then can we talk about the possibility of any peace talks between the sides.
