“President Aliyev’s UN speech: Azerbaijan is ready to share its peace experience with the world” – Ahmad Shahidov told REAL Television

At the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan delivered a speech on September 25 in New York that resonated strongly both domestically and internationally. For the first time since the 44-day Patriotic War, the head of state addressed the UN podium, declaring to the world that Azerbaijan had achieved victory not only on the battlefield but also in the peace process. He emphasized that Azerbaijan had restored its territorial integrity in line with international law, entered a new stage with its peace agenda, and was ready to share this experience with the world.

Speaking to REAL Television’s “Real Interview” program, political commentator Ahmad Shahidov underlined the historic significance of the speech. According to him, the President’s messages from the UN podium not only strengthened Azerbaijan’s position internationally but also contributed to lasting peace in the region. “President Ilham Aliyev once again demonstrated that Azerbaijan is a winner not only on the battlefield but also at the diplomatic table,” Shahidov noted.

He further stressed that the President highlighted key priorities of the post-conflict period: “The reconstruction of liberated territories, the return of displaced persons, the elimination of the landmine threat, and clarifying the fate of missing compatriots – all these remain Azerbaijan’s main objectives. Raising these issues at the UN podium means drawing the international community’s attention to real problems.”

Ahmad Shahidov also emphasized the important messages regarding Azerbaijan–US relations, recalling that the agreements reached in Washington and the ‘Trump Route’ opened new opportunities for regional integration: “The President’s visit to the US and his speech at the UN confirmed that Azerbaijan is a driving force for peace both regionally and globally.”
