The 32nd OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Vienna continues amid discussions on the organization’s political crisis, adherence to the Helsinki principles, and regional security challenges. Ministers who addressed the gathering highlighted the future of the OSCE, Ukraine’s sovereignty, budget issues, and the importance of the peace process in the South Caucasus. Notably, Luxembourg’s foreign minister reiterated his support for the Baku–Yerevan negotiations.
Speaking to REAL Television from Vienna, human rights advocate Ahmad Shahidov noted that the overall atmosphere of the meeting places priority on overcoming the OSCE’s institutional crisis and maintaining the peace agenda. He emphasized that international support for the Azerbaijan–Armenia peace process is a positive signal for long-term regional stability and that demonstrating political will remains essential.
Ahmad Shahidov added that the statements voiced today once again show the need for a renewed cooperation framework within the OSCE. According to him, achieving peace in the South Caucasus is not only crucial for the countries of the region but also represents an important component of Europe’s broader security architecture.
