“Armenia wants to impose new conditions on Azerbaijan” – Dr. Ahmad Shahidov spoke to ARB24 Television

The spokesperson of the Armenian Foreign Ministry stated that they have received a response from Azerbaijan regarding the draft peace agreement, but “there is no response on other issues – the unblocking of communications and the proposal for a mutual arms control mechanism.”

Armenia proposes the establishment of a mutual arms control mechanism. This means that Azerbaijan would have to inform Armenia about any new weapons it acquires in the future.

Speaking to ARB24 Television about the issue, political analyst Dr. Ahmad Shahidov stated that this matter is not a subject of discussion at all and that Azerbaijan will never accept it: “In 2020, Azerbaijan won the war, and Armenia was defeated. Today, Azerbaijan dictates the terms. Armenia must fulfill certain conditions. Instead of doing so, attempting to impose new conditions on Azerbaijan is completely unacceptable.”
