On March 18, in Vienna, the capital of Austria, the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, and the OSCE Finnish Secretariat continued their two-day conference titled “The Role of Media During Conflicts and Humanitarian Crises.”
The meeting, attended by ambassadors, diplomats, and official representatives from 57 countries, focused on media freedom, journalists’ safety, and disinformation issues across the OSCE region.
Speaking at the event, the head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, Dr. Ahmad Shahidov, addressed the importance of strengthening independent journalism and media literacy to enhance societal resilience. Human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov emphasized that by strengthening journalism and media literacy, societies can become more informed, more resilient, and better equipped to face challenges.
