“Ukraine is being abandoned to defeat” – Dr. Ahmad Shahidov spoke to ARB24 channel about the Munich Security Conference

The 61st Munich Security Conference (MSC 2025) has begun. The event will bring together the world’s leading politicians, diplomats and experts to discuss global security challenges, conflicts and the future of international relations.

At the opening ceremony of the conference, leaders of various countries spoke and touched upon such pressing issues as current geopolitical tensions, the war in Ukraine, crises in the Middle East and security problems in the Asia-Pacific region. In particular, NATO’s future strategy, the role of artificial intelligence in the security sector and energy security are among the main topics of discussion.

Along with representatives of the US, the European Union and other major powers, Azerbaijan is also represented at the event. The Azerbaijani delegation is expected to address regional security, energy projects and stability in the South Caucasus in its speech.

Speaking to ARB24 Television on the subject, human rights defender Dr. Ahmad Shahidov said that after the talks between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, stopping the war in Ukraine is the main issue on the agenda. However, this will be in the form of a ceasefire agreement between the parties, in which the issue of Ukraine’s territorial integrity will be relegated to the background. Russia’s wishes are taken into account, and thus the war will end with Ukraine’s defeat.
