On June 24, a two-day conference on “Tolerance and Non-Discrimination and Gender Equality: Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting III” organized by the OSCE Bureau of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights started in Vienna, the capital of Austria.
At the meeting attended by ambassadors, diplomats and government officials of 57 OSCE member states, issues of Tolerance and Non-Discrimination and Gender Equality in the OSCE region were discussed.
Human rights defender Dr. Ahmad Shahidov, who participated in the meeting, informed about the rights of women in Azerbaijan and their role in society. Pointing out that June 24 is International Day of Women in Diplomacy, Dr. Ahmad Shahidov said that women hold high positions in state administration in Azerbaijan. Dr. Ahmad Shahidov pointed out that the second and third places in the management of the state of Azerbaijan are occupied by women, spoke about the activities of the country’s First Vice-President, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva.
At the initiative of Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, who is known for her humanist activities not only in the country, but also abroad, churches and synagogues in several European countries have been renovated. It is also an example of tolerance and multiculturalism to the world.
Azerbaijan’s First Vice President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva’s statesmanship led to the advancement of women in the country not only in the social sphere, but also in the management of the state. In this regard, the fact that women and men have equal rights and privileges in Azerbaijan can be considered an example for other countries.
