“The process of exchanging captives and hostages may take place soon” – Ahmad Shahidov

Azerbaijani civilian hostages Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev may soon be exchanged to Armenian diversant Karen Kazaryan and Araik Kazaryan, a soldier of Armenian armed forces, voluntarily passed to Azerbaijan. In his interview to REAL Television, Coordinator of the Information Center for Azerbaijani Captives and Hostages, human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov said.

According to Ahmad Shahidov, Russia’s mediation mission is being strengthened in the exchange of captives and hostages, and the process of exchanging captives and hostages on the principle of “All to all” proposed by the official Baku may be completed soon.

Note that Igor Popov, co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group from Russia, said in his statement last week that the issue of exchanging the captives and hostages is on their agenda. According to him, during the conversation with the international mediators on the results of the meeting in New York, new approaches to the resolution of humanitarian issues between the conflicting parties were presented. “The main focus of the discussion is on those who are detained on both sides,” – Popov said. Igor Popov added that the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group have recently met with the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer in Geneva and had a very constructive conversation with him.
