“Providing a political asylum to Vitaly Shishkin is an example of the Armenian fascist policy” – Ahmad Shahidov

The Migration Service of Armenia gives refugee status and political asylum to Russian oppositionist, ultra-radical fascist activist Vitaly Shishkin. A statement from the Migration Service says that Shishkin’s life could be endangered if he returned to the Russian Federation. Vitaly Shishkin arrived in Armenia 6 months ago – on January 22, 2019. Immediately after leaving the prison, he went to Yerevan.

Commenting on the issue to REAL TV, head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov linked the issue of providing the first political asylum of the Republic of Armenia to Vitaly Shishkin with the ideology of this state: “Vitaly Shishkin is a radical activist who promotes ideas of fascism and in his speeches, he does not hide his deep sympathy for the Garegin Nzhdeh. His immediate return to Armenia as soon as he was released from prison in Russia and writing a book about Garegin Nzhdeh make him feel more comfortable in this country. Because the Republic of Armenia has erected a monument to Garegin Nzhdeh, the founder of the Armenian branch of fascism, in the capital Yerevan and expresses its adherence to Nzhdeh’s ideas in state policy. For this reason, fascist-minded radicals in the world choose Armenia as their last refuge and they feel safe and comfortable here.”
