The Cordelia Foundation for the Rehabilitation of Torture Victims is launching an investigation into Azerbaijani hostages

Being on a working visit in Europe, Head of Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights Dr. Ahmad Shahidov visited The Cordelia Foundation for the Rehabilitation of Torture Victims in Budapest. The Human Rights Defender, who met with the head of program department of the Cordelia Foundation Mrs. Dorottya Atal, gave detailed information about the organization headed by him and spoke about the problems faced by Azerbaijan, in particular the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the Azerbaijani IDPs.

Head of AIDHR Ahmad Shahidov spoke about the hundreds of Azerbaijani civilians who were captured and taken hostage during and after the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and informed about the Azerbaijani civilians – Hasan Hasanov, Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev, who were taken hostage by the armenian armed forces in July 2014 and said that Hasan Hasanov died as a result of persistent tortures. The other two Azerbaijani hostages are subjected to persistent tortures, said Human Rights Defender and has shown the photos of Dilgam and Shahbaz, and asked Hungarian colleagues to assist in this matter.

Mrs. Dorottya Atal, the representative of The Cordelia Foundation for the Rehabilitation of Torture Victims, said that they will be interested in the issue, and will send inquiries to the international organizations and the Armenian government regarding the Azerbaijani hostages.
