A roundtable discussion on “Georgia-Azerbaijan: Youth and Common Values” was held in Tbilisi

A roundtable discussion on “Georgia-Azerbaijan: Youth and Common Values” was held at the Azerbaijan Cultural Museum named after Mirza Fatali Akhundov in Tbilisi on July 25. The event was organized by the Reformist youth Public Union and AMM Youth Organization. Opening the event, head of the Azerbaijan Cultural Museum named after M.F.Akhundov, Leyla Aliyeva talked about friendship and cultural relations between peoples of the two countries.

First Secretary of the Embassy of Azerbaijan to Georgia Mr. Rahim Rahimzade said that the Georgian-Azerbaijani relations are developing day by day, and this development is evident in all spheres of life. The warm relations between the nations have been going on for centuries and are an example for many countries.

Farid Shahbazli, the chairman of the Reformist youth Public Union, spoke about the successes of the Azerbaijani state youth policy adopted as the model and noted the great responsibility of young people in the development of relations between the two countries. RYPU Chairman said that the relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia are based on the principles of friendship, brotherhood and strategic cooperation: “Great Leader Haydar Aliyev is the founder of contemporary Azerbaijan-Georgia relations.”

Ahmad Shahidov, head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, stressed that Georgia-Azerbaijan relations are multifaceted and regular meetings with georgians living in Azerbaijan are being held and the common cultural and religious holidays of both nations are celebrated at a high level. In this regard, intensive work is underway to strengthen intercultural dialogue and relations between the youth of the two countries. Ahmad Shahidov mentioned the high intellectual level and self-expression initiatives of the Azerbaijani youth living and working in Georgia and welcomed the steps taken in this field.

Simon Kopadze, Vasily Papava and other georgians spoke at the event and stressed that the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia have been existed throughout history and are still successfully continued today. Stressed the loyalty and mutual support of these two peoples at all times, the speakers noted that this friendship and brotherhood can be considered an example in the Caucasus and other regions.

In her speech, the head of the AMM Youth Organization Mrs. Nargiz Aliyeva said that bilateral ties are successfully continued not only in the field of economic and strategic cooperation, but also in the field of youth. N. Aliyeva noted that joint projects, trips, sports competitions and events are being organized within the framework of memorandums of cooperation between the Youth and Sports Ministries and the Youth Foundations of the two countries: “We would like such projects to be systematic and sustainable and play a bridge between youth of the two countries. Another important issue is the expansion of cooperation between the media bodies of the two countries, mutual visits and meetings.”

Anar Suleymanov, representative of the Kvemo Kartli Region Governorship, Maya Rajabova, the director of the “Salam” Cultural Charitable Society, the director and actors of the Haydar Aliyev Azerbaijan Drama Theater, as well as representatives of the Elders’ Council and other people made valuable suggestions on the work to be done in the direction of development of bilateral relations. Tural Ramazanov, an Azerbaijani student studying in Georgia, spoke about the social activeness of the youth of two countries and noted the importance of the joint work of young people in bringing historical truths about Georgia and Azerbaijan to the world.
