On December 20, Head of Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights Ahmad Shahidov met with the students of Azerbaijan State Economic University. During the meeting, human rights defender answered the students’ questions, spoke about the unity of the education and science, stressed the importance of scientific achievements in future career of youths and appreciated the role of youth in defence of Azerbaijan’s national interests.
Sharing own experience and thoughts on education and representing Azerbaijan abroad, Head of AIDHR Ahmad Shahidov wished every young person, irrespective of their profession, to strive for the highest goals, to work tirelessly and to be worthy citizens.
Later, human rights defender shared own experience on properly representing Azerbaijan in the OSCE, the Council of Europe, the European Parliament and the UN, spoke about the existing double standards in Europe, informed about the works done to spread the realities of Azerbaijan – Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, to protect the rights of one million internally displaced persons and hundreds of Azerbaijani hostages, prisoners of war. Noting that the Azerbaijani government has taken serious steps in this direction, Ahmad Shahidov said that the representatives of civil society also operating consecutive projects in the international organisations for the national interests of Azerbaijan.
