Jail No 12 prisoners complain about their administration

turmeA group of prisoners of Jail No 12 sent an appeal to several officials, headed by President Ilham Aliyev. A copy of the appeal was directed to the public alliance “Azerbaijan without political prisoners” to transmit it to the destination through the media.

The appeal includes serious allegations against the head of the penitentiary Rauf Mamedov, his deputy Gachay Aslanov, etc. The inmates claim that corruption, arbitrariness, torture and selling drugs thrive in the prison. In addition, the rich inmates bribe extra conditions and humiliate the poor.

The prisoners asked President Ilham Aliyev, Minister of Justice Fikret Mammadov, the Ombudsman, the chief of MNS, the Attorney General, the Chief of the Prison Service Madat Guliyev, as well as MPs and members of the Public Committee, representatives of international organizations in Azerbaijan, and human rights activists to take legal measures against the leadership of the penitentiary.

The press service of the Prison Service told Turan that the message is untrue.
