UN brings together human rights advocates around Muslim countries for conducting discussions in Qatar

Head of AIDHR Ahmad Shahidov also attends international human rights conference to be organized in Doha

The international human rights conference to be organized by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and Qatar National Human Rights Committee has kicked off in Doha, Qatar on January 13, 2016. The regional conference on the Role of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Promoting and Protecting Human Rights in the Arab Region featured attendance of human rights defenders and experts across the world.

Making an opening speech Chairman of Qatar National Human Rights Committee (NHRC), Ali bin Samikh Al Marri touched on recent developments in the world and importance of protecting human rights in the Arab region.

Latter on Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights underscored significance of human rights for UN and measures carried out on protection of human rights all over the world.

Aftermath, Arab League Secretary-General Nabil al-Arab, Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Ahmed al-Jarwan, Head of the Arab Parliament, Mousa Breizat, Chairperson of the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions and other honorary guests made speech at the conference.

Attending the conference Ahmad Shahidov Head of Azerbaijani Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (AIDHR) shared his viewpoints on current processes in the Arab countries.
