Attending United Nations Forum in Geneva on November 16-18, Ahmad Shahidov, head of AIDHR shared his views on conducted discussions
The 4th Annual United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights has been organized in Geneva, Switzerland. Participants to the Forum held discussions on recent developments and processes worldwide.
Ahmad Shahidov, Head of the Azerbaijani Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (AIDHR) attended United Nations Geneva meeting by making a speech on the state of human rights and fundamental freedoms in Azerbaijan. Talking about the conducted discussions, head of AIDHR noted that human rights issue is becoming less important in the UN agenda. The statement reads; “Since the terror attacks coincided with the forum, the main issue of agenda was Paris attack. Due to this we observe changes of UN agenda. World countries highlight combat against terrorism and importance of joint struggle. Therefore, human rights issue is becoming less important in the UN agenda”.
