Ahmad Shahidov talks about freedom of media at OSCE Warsaw meeting

Human Dimension Implementation Meeting to be organised by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) has kicked off in Warsaw, Poland on September 21. The meeting attended by high raked officials, ministers, Ambassadors, NGOs representatives and human rights advocates from 57 OSCE participating States, featured discussions on fundamental freedoms, human rights and democratic values.

The issue of freedom of media in OSCE participating countries has been discussed during the first day of meeting. Joining the discussions, Ahmad Shahidov, Head of the Azerbaijani Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (AIDHR) talked about the state of freedom of media in Azerbaijan and conveyed his concerns over the arrests of MEYDAN TV women journalists.

Aftermath, head of AIDHR touched upon killed journalists in the USA, by addressing Daniel Baer, the U.S Representative to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) he asked him to inform attendees on killed journalists.

In the end of his remarks, human rights advocate Ahmad Shahidov emphasised unfavourable incident caused by Hungarian journalist Petra Laszlo who tripped over Syrian refugees. He noted that this very fact once again illustrate intolerance tendencies in the Europe.
