On September 29 the next sessions of Human Dimension Implementation Meeting of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) has been continued with the participation of high raked officials, ministers, ambassadors, NGOs representatives and human rights advocates from 57 OSCE participating states. The meeting featured discussions on hostility, hate speech and discrimination.
Joining the discussions Ahmad Shahidov, Head of the Azerbaijani Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (AIDHR) elaborated on Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and sanctions imposed on the country. By addressing to the delegation of the Republic of Cyprus who represented the whole Island, Head of AIDHR highlighted problems, violations faced by Turks in Island and hold Greek side responsible for this.
Head of AIDHR further recalled existence of a single state of Cyprus in 1960 and noted that as a result of aggressive policy of Greek that state was collapsed. As an evidence of Greek’s unconstructive stance Mr. Shahidov recalled a referendum on the Annan Plan which was held in 2004 during which Turks said YES, in contrast Greeks said NO. He further noted that still ditches are found in the Island in which hundreds of Turks were buried by adding unconstructive position of Greek side.
