AIDHR conducts monitoring on the National Council‘s demonstration to be held on 5 April

Members of Azerbaijani Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (AIDHR) will monitor National Council‘s demonstration which is scheduled on 5 April. Protesters, condition created for them to exercise their rights, law enforcers treatment towards protesters and security measures will be monitored during the protest to be held at “Mesul” stadium. AIDHR will submit outcomes of the monitoring to the OSCE.
In his statement Ahmad Shahidov, Head of the Azerbaijani Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (AIDHR) voiced his hope that the protest will be authorised and it will pave a way to ensuring freedoms of peaceful assembly in Azerbaijan. The statement reads; “AIDHR will carry out monitoring of the demonstration to be held by National Council on April 16-17. Our aim is to monitor protestors and law enforcers’ treatment who provide security of the protest. OSCE Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting on Freedoms of Peaceful Assembly and Association, with emphasis on Freedom of Association in OSCE participating countries which will be held in Vienne, Austria on April 16-17. The outcomes will be highlighted during OSCE assembly”.
