“Propaganda campaign launched against USA contradicts Azerbaijani interests” – AIDHR

Deliberate anti-propaganda campaigns carried out by several new media means are made by the forces that do not want to see Azerbaijan`s prosperity

There are close relations between Azerbaijan and the USA. It was on December 25, 1991 that USA recognized independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Diplomatic ties between the two countries were established on February 28, 1992. USA Embassy was opened in Azerbaijan on March 1992, in the same year Azerbaijan appointed its Ambassador to the USA. Up until now hundreds of documents were inked between the two countries and legal framework was formed for further collaboration.

Azerbaijani Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (AIDHR) expresses its deep concerns over the recent deliberate anti-propaganda campaigns carried by the some new media means aiming to harm ties between Azerbaijan and USA and escalate tensions between these countries. The campaign which undermines Azerbaijan’s integration into the Western space and pose regional threat is launched by the some forces with the purpose of not only to hurt reputation of the USA in the region but also harm existing strategic partnership.

Azerbaijani Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (AIDHR) reiterates that USA views Azerbaijan as a strategic partner which locates in the crossroads of three regions-Middle East, Europe and Asia. After Azerbaijan gained its independence in 1991the country targeted to export its rich oil and gas products to the Western market and broaden its economic collaboration with the foreign investors along with the USA based companies. Ultimately, Azerbaijan could manage to diversify and enhance its global energy supplies. Azerbaijani pipelines turned to connect Caspian Sea with the West.

Prosperous and thriving Azerbaijan paves the way for having more stable and thriving Caucasus. This growth promises opportunities for ensuring peace and stability in a complicated region. It also promises reliable partner which by itself overcame terrorism threat and financial crises.

Therefore, bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the USA play significant role. The USA wants for Azerbaijan to have market economy, become democratic country and driving force in the region in terms of securing coexistence and peace with its neighbor countries. This serves not only Azerbaijani’s interests but also for the USA interests.

USA and Azerbaijan continues long term strategic collaboration on the projects which connects the West and the East. As the fraternal and stable country for Azerbaijan the USA expresses its readiness to further work in sake of growing and stable Azerbaijan.

Today strengthened ties between Azerbaijan and the USA is particularly important. There are some global challenges which hardly any country can overcome by itself. It’s also true that as with every bilateral relation sometimes clash of interests have occurred between Azerbaijan and the USA.

Regardless of this the two countries still have shared spheres. Whether it’s with security, energy, economy or democratic reforms, USA possesses huge opportunities for transformation and developing economic and geopolitical potentials of the South Caucasus.

AIDHR believes that in order to carry out this valuable mission Azerbaijan and the USA will deepen existing cooperation and with joint efforts we will be able to overcome all challenges.
