CEC cancels the results of the elections in eight municipalities

On 23 December the Azerbaijani CEC summarized the  results of elections in 1607 municipalities 118 constituencies. At a meeting on Monday CEC canceled the results of the vote in 43 polling stations (there are about 5,000.) As a result, the results of votes were abolished  in eight  municipalities – Arabashly (50th Apsheron-Gobustan District), Uzunboyat & Garden (both 54th Shabran-Siyazan District), Musakucha (70th Masaallinsky city), Saglaser (75- First Lankaran-Masalli), Alpout (the 94th Barda rural) , Soyulan (95th Tartar), and Nizami (96-1 Nizami-Naftalan District.)

According to the head of  CEC, Mazahir Panahov, the elections were organized at a high level, “with the exception of small unpleasant moments when some members of the precinct election commissions intentionally or unintentionally unprofessional performed their duty.”

He announced the disbandment by the election commissions  the 12th polling station of the 15th Yasamal First constituency.

“There were not any problems with the registration of candidates. Watching was free from beginning to end, in this regard, the CEC did not receive any complaints,” Panahov said.

Just in the 15th district  on December 23 correspondents  of MeydanTV filmed evidence of gross violations in the form of mass ballot stuffing.

At a meeting  the CEC member, Akif Gurbanov, offered even  to cancel the results of municipal elections “due to massive violations of the law.” However, as a result the protocol on the results of the elections was adopted by 15 votes “for” and 2 “against”.

Total of 37,000 candidates were involved in the fight for the 15,035 seats in 1607 municipalities.
