On October 9, at 15:00 a group of local human rights defenders held a protest action in front of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Moscow demanding freedom of Leyla Yunus arrested in Baku. The protest action was initiated by the well-known Russian human rights activist Svetlana Gannushkina.
One of the protesters, Varvara Parkhomenko, wrote on her Facebookpage that the police came to the action and began to rewrite the contents of all the posters. At the same time, the government authorized only pickets, refusing to allow the usual protest.
However, “thank to the assembly of the police”, a series of pickets in support of Azerbaijani human rights defenders looked like a total picket.
