The next meeting of OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) under the title of “The Human Dimension Implementation” has been held in Warsaw, Poland on October 1. Ahmad Shahidov, Head of the Azerbaijani Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (AIDHR) made a speech at the meeting that mainly focused on the rights to freedom of conscience, religion and beliefs. Touching upon the issue of tolerance, Head of AIDHR noted importance of embracing diversity of thoughts and views. He also recalled representatives of Armenian NGO’s protest held against him on September 23 while he was making a speech. In his remarks he condemned this action and stressed that disrespectful action directed not only to him but all meeting’s attendees.

Talking about the article published by pro-Armenian government Panorama.am website in which Ahmad Shahidov was described as “Aremniaphob and enemy of this nation” he noted that the article is a clear evidence of Armenian intolerance and left all responsibilities to the official Yerevan.

Later on, Ahmad Shahidov stressed court action launched against Rauf Arifoglu, one of leading media pioneers and urged to stop the proceeding immediately. He emphasized that court action launched against Rauf Arifoglu, Editor in Chief of newspaper ”New Musavat” would do nothing but to harm Azerbaijani international reputation. He also called on Businessman Ananr Mammadov to withdraw his claim.
