Search and seizure of documents in the office of IREX
In the afternoon on Friday prosecutor employees came to the office of the American organization IREX. Presenting a judgment, they began to withdraw equipment – electronic media, as well as documents of the NGO.
It became known Turan from informed sources, prosecutors employees came to the office at 11:00 am on Friday, and at 17:00 seizure of documents continued. It is impossible to get comments from IREX, the organization did not answer phones.
The press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office also failed to get a comment.
In July were frozen bank accounts of IREX, and the head of the organization left the country.
Investigation Department for Serious Crimes Prosecutor General’s Office in May filed a lawsuit against a number of local and foreign NGOs, in which four defenders have been arrested.
IREX is one of the main foreign donors for the media and NGOs of Azerbaijan.
