A citizen Azer Asgarov, who owned a private house at 8 Talat Shikhaliyev Street, has been fined by the Narimanov District Court in Baku at 200 manat.
Recall that Asgarov leased his mansion as an office for the Popular Front Party. In March 2014 the basement of the building caught fire. This led the authorities to declare an emergency and to demolish the building, despite the protests of the owner.
Asgarov was not paid compensation and he repeatedly complained about the lawlessness of the local authorities, demanding fair compensation.
Yesterday Asgarov was summoned to the 18th Narimanov district police station and charged with resisting police and disorderly conduct.
This case has acquired a special resonance since Asgarov unveiled an audio conversation with his brother, a responsible official of the Emergencies Ministry, who promised him a “serious problem” if he did not drive the opposition party out of the building. However Asgarov refused to do so.
