An appeal was made to the Supreme Court against the decision of the Baku Court of Appeal dated July 7 in the case of journalist Parviz Hashimli, Turan was told by the lawyer Bahruz Bayramov. The complaint was presented at today’s trial in Baku Court of Appeal chaired by Vagif Mursagulov. The reason was the refusal to consider the cassation appeal to reconsider the court proceedings. Time of consideration of the complaint was not assigned.
*An employee of the newspaper “Bizim Yol”, head of the website moderator.az Parviz Hashimli was arrested by the MNS on September 17, 2013. On May 15 Baku Serious Crimes Court found him guilty under the Articles 228.2.1 (illegal purchase, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons and ammunition, committed by persons acting in collusion) and 228.2.2 (same acts committed repeatedly), and 206.3.2 (smuggling of persons by prior agreement), and was sentenced to eight years imprisonment. Under the same Article was convicted the second defendant Tavakul Gurbanov to 8.5 years of imprisonment.
