One of the participants of the incident motivated by religious intolerance, Ramzi Zeynalov was arrested in Sabirabad.

Recall that on 4 July videos appeared on the Internet of bullying and violence against a Wahhabi whose beard was cut off. The victim was a resident of Kurdamir Javanshir Zarbaliyev and his abuser was Ramzi Zeynalov.

Zeynalov is charged under Article 221.1 (hooliganism), and the court arrested him for 2 months, Assistant Prosecutor of Sabirabad Ibrahim Ibrahimov told Turan.

The investigation is conducted in Sabirabad police. Article 221.1 provides for penalties of up to one year imprisonment.

Note that the public beating of this member of religious minority was condemned by many prominent religious figures of the country.

It is noteworthy that it is qualified only as “hooliganism” rather than Article 283 – “inciting national, racial, social or religious hatred and enmity,” which is often used against political prisoners
