The journalist Rauf Mirkadirov is not being released from the MNS jail to take part in the ceremony of his father’s mourning. His father Habibulla Mirkadirov died 40 days ago.

According to the lawyer Elmar Suleymanov, today the investigator of the Prosecutor General Ibrahim Lemberansky said that the lawyers’ letter had not come to him.

“But it’s just impossible. We previously sent letters twice to allow Rauf to participate at the 40-day mourning ceremony. The letters were sent to the Attorney General, the First Deputy Attorney General and the Ministry of National Security.

It could not happen that the letter did not reach the addressees. Apparently, they just do not want to let Rauf Mirkadirov join the ceremony,” said the lawyer.

* The columnist of Zerkalo, Rauf Mirkadirov was arrested in Baku on April 19 immediately after the deportation from Turkey. He was accused of spying for Armenia, and on April 21 the court arrested him for three months. The journalist denied the accusation, calling it absurd and refused to testify. But the day before, he decided to testify investigation to provide clarity on some issues.
