“The recent decision of the French Senate is the result of despair and confusion” – Ahmad Shahidov told ON4 Television

Handing over of Kalbajar region to the Azerbaijani Army yesterday is marked in Azerbaijan as a day of the next victory. Armenia has already conceded its defeat. However, some Western countries, especially France, are trying to take some provocative steps to violate this agreement. An example of this is the decision of the French Senate yesterday to recommend the French government to recognize so called Nagorno-Karabakh as an independent country. This document, which has no legal weight, is in fact the result of France’s policy contrary to international norms and the laws it supports.

In his interview to ON4 Television, recalling that France is one of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, Ahmad Shahidov, head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, said that the decision of the French Senate contradicts all international decisions and will damage France’s image in the world.
