“Armenia’s second ceasefire violation shows that Yerevan is not a supporter of peace” – Ahmad Shahidov told TRT World

Azerbaijan, showing its goodwill based on humanism principles, agreed to a humanitarian ceasefire from 18 October.

Armenian armed forces immediately after the declared ceasefire, starting from 10 minutes past midnight, fired at the Jabrayil city and the Jabrayil region villages liberated from the occupation, located along the river Araz using mortars and artillery. The armed forces of Armenia violating the ceasefire shelled Azerbaijan’s positions using the large-caliber weapons at the border of two states in the direction of Gadabay and Tovuz regions of Azerbaijan.

Speaking on TRT World, human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov, head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, said that the shelling of civilians and cities by the Armenian armed forces after the second humanitarian ceasefire agreement is another clear example of barbarism and shows that the ceasefire calls of the Armenian leadership are nothing but hypocrisy.

Because the Armenian army violated the ceasefire, fired on the villages on the line of contact and killed civilians. The human rights defender said that Armenia must withdraw its soldiers from all occupied territories and stressed the need to restore the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan. And only then can we talk about the possibility of any peace talks between the sides.
