“Azerbaijan is once again facing Armenian terror” – Live debate on Al Jazeera Arabic: Ahmad Shahidov and Sos Avetisyan

Despite the ceasefire agreement reached between the parties, the Armenian side continues to fire on civilians and civilian objects for the third day.

The Armenian armed forces do not adhere to the humanitarian truce and continue inflicting rocket and artillery fire at Azerbaijan’s cities and villages located away from the area of combat operations.

On the night of October 11, Ganja, the second-largest city in Azerbaijan and far beyond the frontline, came under rocket fire by the Armenian armed forces. The attack killed 8 civilians and injured 34 others, including minors.

A live debate on the recent clashes on frontline was organized on the Al-Jazeera Arabic channel. Dr. Ahmad Shahidov, head of the Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights, and member of the Armenian Parliament Sos Avetisyan came face to face in the debate.

Azerbaijani human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov said that the Armenian army violated the ceasefire, fired on the villages on the line of contact and killed civilians. The human rights defender said that Armenia must withdraw its soldiers from all occupied territories and stressed the need to restore the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan. And only then can we talk about the possibility of any peace talks between the sides.
