The Board for administrative and economic affairs of the Supreme Court, under the chairmanship of Kamaleddin Badalov held June 12 consideration of the appeal from the editor of Tolyshi Sado Hilal Mamedovn about a violation of the presumption of innocence on the part of the Interior Ministry and the Prosecutor General.

In a joint press release of these departments from June 4, 2012, Mamedov was presented as a person who had committed criminal acts, although his guilt was not proved by the court.

Mamedov’s complaints about the violation of the presumption of innocence were rejected by the trial court and the Baku Appeal Court (BAC).

Today the Supreme Court partially granted the appeal and ordered a retrial at BAC.

However, Mamedov’s lawyer Khalid Bagirov doubts that the Court of Appeal at reconsideration will satisfy the complaint. For this reason, today’s decision by the Supreme Court will only delay the appeals from the defense to the European Court of Human Rights.
