“After the Vienna meeting the process of exchanging the hostages has entered the active phase” – Discussion on “ATV Actual” program

The Vienna meeting of the Azerbaijani President and the Armenian Prime Minister and the Moscow meeting of foreign ministers were discussed at the “ATV Actual” program of the Free Azerbaijan Television. The guests of the well-known presenter Ariz Tarverdiyev were the Chairman of Azerbaijan Press Council, MP Aflatun Amashov and Coordinator of the Information Center for Azerbaijani Captives and Hostages, human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov.

Member of Parliament Aflatun Amashov, who commented on the situation after the Vienna meeting, shared his views on the possibility of mutual visits of Armenian and Azerbaijani journalists and said that the implementation of these visits is still too early.

Coordinator of the Information Center for Azerbaijani Captives and Hostages, human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov called the Vienna meeting a turning point in the process of exchange the captives and hostages and commented on the possibility of hostages meeting with their family members. According to the human rights defender, achieving a preliminary agreement on humanitarian action in Vienna and Moscow meetings will lead to the transfer of issue of captives and hostages directly into the active phase: “So, we hope that real steps will be taken in this direction in the near future, and official Yerevan will remain committed to the agreement reached in the negotiations.”
