Turkish court granted the petition of Intigam Aliyev against police

intiqam_eliyev_istanbulA famous  human rights  defenders Intigam Aliyev obtained the truth in the Turkish court, which upheld his claim against the police, who  on December 7, 2011 at the Istanbul airport “Ataturk”  illegally arrested him.

According to the Turkish site radical.com.tr, the court ruled that  the detention of Aliyev was unjustified, just like the use of violence against him and one year ban  for travel to Turkey.

The court  passed a ruling to pay him 7,500 lire as moral  compensation, and 600 lire as a  material compensation.

The cause  for  the incident was uncivil behavior  of the cop who dropped  Aliyev’s passport. Aliyev asked him to be more respectful, in response police used  bad words and arrested Aliyev.

In response to the demands of the human rights activist to stop outrage against him  a lawsuit was  filed under the Article 106.1, 265.1 and 125.3 of the Turkish Penal Code (threat, insult and violation of  the rights of official.)

The lawyer Intigam Aliyev filed a counter-suit, and was able to win the case.

Turan failed to get comments from  the  human rights defender.
