Ahmad Shahidov spoke about the Khodjaly Genocide and Azerbaijani hostages in Istanbul Culture University

“Justice for Khodjaly” Week, organized by Reformist Youths Public Union, held its next conference in Istanbul Culture University

On 24th February, “Justice for Khodjaly” conference, organized by Reformist Youths Public Union, was held in Istanbul Culture University. University administration, teachers and students, as well as guests from Azerbaijan participated in the conference. Made a welcome speech in the conference, chairman of RYPU Mr. Farid Shahbazli gave detailed information about the “Justice for Khodjaly” International Awareness Campaign, spoke about the sustainable projects realised by vice-president of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs. Leyla Aliyeva.

In his speech, chairman of Youth Education Centre Mr. Fakhraddin Hasanzade said that Azerbaijan State has been operating intensively in the direction of international recognition of Khodjaly Genocide and as a part of this policy, Azerbaijani youths fulfil an important mission.

Then, Head of Azerbaijan Institute for Democracy and Human Rights Mr. Ahmad Shahidov made a speech and said that in accordance with international law and standards, massacre in Khodjaly is Genocide. Head of AIDHR expressed the 25 year pain of Khodjaly people and stressed another painful side of this genocide that the terrorists, who carried out the murder of humanity, are in freedom today and occupy management positions in Armenia.

Speaking about the current double standards in the world, human rights defender Ahmad Shahidov told about the fate of people, captured during the Nagornoy-Karabakh conflict and gave information about the work done for the sake of releasing of them. Ahmad Shahidov said that the armenian side does not comply with international conventions on prisoners of war and hostages and gave information about Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Gouliyev. They were captured by armenian armed forces in July 2012 and later, the false trial was held on these two civilians. The trial is based on the false and contrary to the Geneva Convention of 1949, said Ahmad Shahidov. He informed the participants about the work done by the Azerbaijan State and the civil society for protection of rights of Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Gouliyev.

Honored artist of Azerbaijan Mrs. Aybaniz Hashimova called the Khodjaly Genocide as an prime example of armenian brutality and noted that she felt those terrible days in her personal life as well. At the end of her speech, Aybaniz Hashimova appealed to young people and sang the compositions in the national-patriotic spirit.
