Chair of the Committee of Ministers of the CoE pledges his support for the hostages of Khalbajar region – VIDEO

In the framework of his meeting that held in Vienne, Austria Ahmad Shahidov, Human Rights Defender presented a book dedicated to the Azerbaijani hostages to Didier Reynders, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium and Chairperson of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe
OSCE Headquarter hosted a meeting with Didier Reynders, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium and Chairperson of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in Vienne, Austria on March 12. The meeting was attended by human rights defenders, public figures and journalists. Ahmad Shahidov, Head of Azerbaijani Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (AIDHR) joined the meeting as well.
Mr. Shahidov addressed two questions to Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium. While answering the question “Does Belgium support Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity?” Mr. Reynders made it plain that along with other OSCE participating states, territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is respected by him. He also noted OSCE Minsk Group’s dedication towards to this issue.
Aftermath, Head of AIDHR gave a raise to the issue of Azerbaijani hostages, namely Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev by asking which steps can be taken by the Belgium government in this respect. At the end of the meeting, Ahmad Shahidov presented a book “Save Us From Hostage” dedicated to more than 2000 Azerbaijani citizens who were taken hostages in the course of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to Chairperson of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. For his part, Didier Reynders underscored that he would read the book. He went on to say that during his working visit to Armenia in April he would table the issue of Azerbaijani hostages with the Armenian side.
