Jamil Hasanli heads committee to protect the rights of spouses Yunus
Ramiz Yunus, brother of the arrested conflictologist Arif Yunus made a statement in which he thanked all those who supported Leyla and Arif Yunus. Ramiz Yunus, who lives in the USA asked in his statement Jamil Hasanli to head a committee to protect the rights of Leyla and Arif.
Jamil Hasanli, in turn, said that it was a matter of honor to defend this fragile-looking, but a strong spirit of women, who has become a symbol of human rights and freedoms. “Frankly speaking we do this work even without letter from Ramiz Yunus, and I am grateful for the confidence,” said Hasanli.
After the arrest of Leyla Yunus there was a meeting in her office, and it was decided to protect her not only as a member of the Coordinating Council of the National Council, but also all the repressed in the civil society, prisoners of conscience, persons arrested for political reasons.
“Leyla-khanum could not imagine protection her rights aside of protecting Rasul Jafarov, Intigam Aliyev, Anar Mammadov, Ilgar Mammadov, Tofig Yagublu, Yadigar Sadikhov, and dozens of other political prisoners.
Self-devotion that Leyla Yunus showed before her arrest cannot leave us indifferent. Therefore, we dedicate the committee’s work protecting the rights of all victims of repression, and we are determined to do everything possible for their release , and the release of Leyla Yunus ,” continued Hasanli. It is planned to hold in the coming weeks a meeting of the Committee to protect the rights of political prisoners, and everyone can participate in it, said Hasanli. –
