Criminal proceedings against the persons intending to organize the construction of a building for residents of Soviet Street

Attorney General’s Office released a report that a criminal case under article 178.3.2 of the Criminal Code in relation to the three company officials Des Consulting. The company informed the public on July 15 its intention to solve the problem of resettlement of the inhabitants of the old quarters of Baku, known as Soviet, by building a 16-storey building, which was to consist of 810 apartments.

The investigation was opened a day later, on July 16 the General Directorate of Police in Baku. In a joint statement the prosecutor’s office and police in Baku said that officials of the consulting company intended to assign property of citizens, fraudulently using their trust. However, the company did not have a license.

It is noteworthy that the company did not apply for civil works by its own means and it hired a tender-based company Hayat Inshaat for this – the company has a license for the construction of tall buildings.

The officials of Des Consulting gave the first evidence, according to which the estimated cost of the building was more than 17 million manat, and 1 m2 of the apartment was supposed to be offered to the former inhabitants of Soviet Street at 380 manat.
